I analyzed over 19,000 DoorDash delivery records to identify the primary causes of delivery delays across the order lifecycle. The project focused on determining whether delays were driven by restaurant preparation time or driver delivery performance. After cleaning and structuring raw timestamp data, I calculated key delivery metrics including total delivery time, restaurant preparation time, and driver delivery time.
I then used pivot tables and visualizations in Excel to compare ASAP and scheduled orders, uncovering timing differences across order types. The analysis revealed that restaurant preparation time is the dominant source of delays, while driver delivery time remains relatively stable. Scheduled orders showed significantly longer delivery windows due to built-in waiting periods before restaurant preparation begins.
